I think that we need to be reminded often about truths we already know. The apostle Paul often reminded the church of essential truth so pivotal to the christian life… here are a few essential reminders on my mind.
1. Nothing is more important than your personal relationship with Jesus!
2. Prayer works! Yet we under estimate the incredible power of prayer. We want to be desperate for God… never smug.
3. Other than Jesus, God always uses flawed instruments. He calculates for our miscalculations. He is able to do more than we can ask or think.
4. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Remember who you are serving.
5. Teamwork makes the dream work… teamwork is the essence of ministry… God has always existed in a team, as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
6. We can think that every time that opportunity knocks, it is God knocking. Not so! There are God things and there are good things. If we do not say “no” to many of the “good thing” opportunities, we will not have time for the greatest opportunities.
7. Having a passionate desire to please God may displease some people. Our passion for God can be diluted by an ocean of negativity, a lack of rest, sin, and simply burning out… too much pouring out and not enough pouring in.
8. People often want success without suffering.
9. Character is proven in the valleys, not the mountain tops.
10. You are never wasting time when you are sharpening your ax.
